LDAP 基本知識


  • LDAP server will be listening on TCP port 389 which is the standard LDAP port.
  • LDAP is not

    • A general replacement for relational databases

    • A file system for very large objects

    • Optimal for very dynamic objects

    • Useful without applications


  • A stand-alone server called Slapd. Slap was followed by a second service called Slurpd.

  • In a nutshell:

    • Information in LDAP is logically represented as entries.
    • Entries belong to one or more object classes.
    • Each object class is defined by a set of attributes.
    • An attribute consists of a type and one or more values.
    • Object class and attribute type definitions make up the schema.
